That's Kyle's phone. He answers it himself.

APK Electric is Kyle Lamarre — one licensed Connecticut electrician, twenty years on the tools, with no dispatcher and no sales rep standing between you and the man doing the work. Tripping breakers and dead outlets today; panel upgrades, EV chargers and remodel wiring when you're ready to plan. Residential and commercial, priced honestly before anything gets pulled.

What's it doing?

Nobody wakes up wanting to buy electrical work. You noticed something. Find it below — Kyle has written down what it usually turns out to be, so you know what you're calling about before you call.

A breaker keeps tripping
Usually Too much load on one circuit, a breaker that's worn out, or a genuine fault in the wiring. All three look identical from the panel door. Kyle tests which one it is before anything gets replaced — swapping a breaker on a circuit that has actually faulted just hides the problem until it comes back.
Something smells hot near the panel
Don't wait Usually A connection heating up under load. That smell is insulation cooking, and it is the stage directly before a fire. Shut the main off if you can reach it safely, then call. This is what “always open” is for.
Half the house lost power
Usually A lost leg — one of the two 240 volt hot conductors feeding your panel has opened up, at the meter, the main breaker, or out at the utility. It isn't a tripped breaker and it isn't a wait-and-see. Lights burning unusually bright in the rooms that still work is the same fault, and it destroys appliances while you wait.
An outlet or switch plate feels warm
Usually A loose connection behind the device, often a back-stabbed wire that has worked its way free over twenty years. Heat means resistance, and resistance means arcing. Stop using the receptacle until it has been opened up and re-terminated properly.
Lights dim when the AC or well pump kicks on
Usually A service that's undersized for what the house now draws, or a loose neutral. A small dip on a big motor start is normal; a visible brownout every single cycle usually means the panel has reached the end of its life.
Outlets dead in one room, breaker looks fine
Usually Almost always a tripped GFCI somewhere upstream — a bathroom, the garage, or an exterior receptacle — feeding the whole run. When resetting it won't hold, there's a real fault downstream worth finding properly.
You've still got a fuse box
Usually Not dangerous on its own, but insurers and home buyers both flag it, and it can't carry a modern kitchen, a hot tub, or a car charger. Replacement is typically a one-day job, permitted and inspected.
Flickering that comes and goes
Usually A loose connection somewhere upstream of the fixture. Intermittent faults are worse than constant ones, not better — they're the ones that arc. Worth finding while it's still a service call.

Why it goes better this way

Hiring one electrician instead of a company

The number you're told is the number you pay

Kyle quotes the job before he starts it. If something turns up behind the wall, you hear about it then — not on the invoice afterward.

The man who quotes it is the man who wires it

No estimator, no rotating crew, no technician who has to phone the office for permission. One person owns the job from the first call to the final inspection.

It passes the first time

Permitted where a permit is required, wired to current code, and labelled so the next electrician — or the buyer's inspector — can follow what was done.

He picks up out of hours

Always open isn't a slogan on the listing. Burning smell at 10pm gets triaged on the call, before you hang up.

Diagnosis before parts

Faults get traced, not guessed at. Replacing a breaker on a circuit that's genuinely faulted only buys you a few weeks and another service call.

One number, for years

The point of a good electrician is that you stop looking for one. Most of Kyle's work now comes from people who called him once and kept the number.

When nothing's broken

Work you plan for

The other half of the job: upgrades, additions, and the things you're putting in the house that the original wiring was never sized to carry.

Panel & service upgrades

Fuse boxes and undersized panels replaced with service that carries what the house actually pulls today. See pricing

EV charger installation

Level 2 chargers, with the load calculation done first so you learn up front whether the panel can carry it. See pricing

Generator hookups

Inlet box and transfer switch wired properly — no cords through a window, no backfeeding the utility. See pricing

Hot tub & spa circuits

Dedicated GFCI circuit, disconnect and bonding sized to the tub so it passes inspection the first time.

Remodel & new construction

Kitchens, baths, basements and additions from rough-in through trim, on your builder's schedule.

Whole-house surge protection

Panel-mounted protection so one storm doesn't take the HVAC, the well pump and every screen in the house.

Lighting, outlets & switches

Recessed lighting, added receptacles, dimmers and fixture swaps — done clean and patched behind.

Outdoor & landscape lighting

Path, tree, security and accent lighting on proper exterior-rated circuits, timers and photocells.

Commercial builds

Shops, offices and tenant fit-outs wired to spec and coordinated with the rest of the trades on site.

TV mounting & wiring

Mounted level with the receptacle and cabling run inside the wall instead of hanging down it.

Who you're hiring

Quality work, honest pricing, power you can trust.

Kyle Lamarre  ·  Owner, APK Electric LLC

Kyle started APK to do the job the way he thought it ought to be done: show up when you said you would, give the price before the work instead of after it, and leave the panel neat enough that the next electrician can read it. Twenty-plus years later, that's still the whole business plan.

Outstanding communication — phenomenal work, I can't say enough. I'm always a bit nervous when working with contractors, I'm a new homeowner. Kyle broke the work down for me in a way I understood, showed up on time, amazing work, super clean, and follows up afterward to see if there are any questions or issues.

Top-notch electrician and an absolute pro when it comes to customer service. We've had the pleasure of having Kyle do work for us and can't recommend him enough — reliable, responsive, and always goes the extra mile to get the job done right.

Straight answers

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. APK Electric LLC is a licensed Connecticut electrical contractor carrying full liability insurance. The license number is at the bottom of this page, and Kyle will read it to you on the phone if you ask.
Do you charge for estimates?
No, and there's no obligation. Describe the job on the phone or through the form and you get a real number — not a range engineered to climb once the work starts.
How fast can you get here?
APK is always open. Most service calls around Bristol are scheduled same day or next day. Real emergencies — no power, burning smell, sparking panel — get triaged on the call, before you hang up.
Do you install EV chargers?
Yes. Level 2 home chargers, with a load calculation on your existing panel done first. Full pricing is here.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, whenever the work requires one. Service changes, panel replacements, hot tub circuits and new construction get permitted and inspected — which is what protects you at resale and with your insurer.
Do you take commercial work?
Yes. Shops, offices, tenant fit-outs, and ongoing service work for businesses that need an electrician who picks up the first time.
What happens after I send the form?
It goes straight to Kyle's phone. He usually replies the same day, often within the hour. If it's urgent, don't wait on the reply — call.
